During my time in Margaret River, I had the chance to take the 40 minute drive to Dunsborough to visit Samudra. Samudra is set in an idyllic location, surrounded by beautiful native wildlife. Samudra incorporates a gourmet cafe, an eco clothing store, a yoga studio and a wellness centre. They also have an organic garden in which they grow a vast amount of their own food. One of the most wonderful things to see while eating my meal, was the chef pop outside and grab a bunch of leafy greens! That’s what I call fresh!
The cafe was warm and friendly, with impeccable service by the wait staff, we got our meals super quickly! I chose the Scrambled organic tofu and butternut pumpkin, tamari balsamic glazed Portobello
mushrooms and parsley pesto on toasted wood fired sourdough. Cam chose the Shakuska baked eggs: Two free range organic eggs, cavolo nero in a rich tomato, pepper sauce with grilled wood fired sourdough. Both dishes were full of flavour and absolutely the best breakfast out I have ever eaten. It really beats ‘ye olde eggs benedict’.
I would really love to get back to Dunsborough at some point to be involved in one of their signature retreats, possibly a yoga or wellness retreat. I have been told by many people how incredible the retreats are, and how they had a greater understanding of their health and well being afterwards. I think I will put it on my 2014 bucket list!
